I am not a father so I can't really speak out of experience but what I could say for sure that, there isn't a standard for how much I would let them play, I would see how it is affecting them, how much attention they are giving the games, in general I would aim for the standard 2 to 3 hours a day, when they are free and are comfortable to do so, I would reduce that time when they are sick or have studied for long, not because they need to study more but because they need to rest their brains!

Yes, I allow. There are many variants for good games for kids. Try to search some game about popular character, for example Frozen or Pokemon. Usually kids like such games. My son likes Bikes games from https://www.skywardgames.com/category/bike you can do a lot of fun stuff with your bike while playing online for free.
